PTO newsletter - Week of August 20th

The summer is winding down and we’re excited to start gearing up for the new school year!  Take a look at the latest news from your friendly neighborhood ISLA PTO...


SPIRIT STORE

Meet the Teacher Night (Wed, Aug 29 4-6:30 pm):

  • If you have already ordered your ISLA T-shirts and/or sweatshirts, they will be available to pick up at Meet the Teacher night
  • Sample sizes of Spirit Store wear will be available to try on
  • We will also have LIMITED sizes and colors available for “cash and carry” that night

Spirit Store will reopen from Monday, Aug 20 – Saturday, Sept 8

  • Items ordered during that time frame will be delivered to the classrooms during the last week of September


UNIFORM EXCHANGE

The uniform exchange will be out at Meet the Teacher Night.  Please feel free to take any items your kids could use.  You do NOT have to donate anything in order to take.  The PTO collects and organizes new or gently used uniforms that are donated by ISLA families who no longer need them.  They will be set out at a variety of events throughout the year.  However, if you find your child has gone through a growth spurt and you need access to them sooner Emily is able to give parents access to where the uniforms are stored.  To donate items, please bag them and drop off at the school office.  


SEEKING ROOM PARENT VOLUNTEERS

Interested in helping your child's class?  Becoming a room parent is a great way to volunteer at ISLA.  Room Parents support and work together with our amazing ISLA teachers to plan a handful of classroom activities, including celebrations and a classroom auction item for the Fiesta de la Primavera. Ideally, two parents will work together in each classroom to support each of your children's teacher and classroom throughout the year. SEEKING LUNCH VOLUNTEERS

Are you looking for a fun opportunity to help out and see the kids during the school day? Sign up for helping out during the lunch hour! Prep for Lunch, Greet the Kids, Serve Food, and Clean Up while working alongside another ISLA volunteer and Scott (ISLA's lunch manager).

Opportunities include regular weekly/bi-weekly/monthly assignments as well as substitute assignments as needed throughout the year.

Signing up for the lunch substitute list is a great way to help out on an ad hoc or last minute basis. (There is no commitment to signing up for the sub list.)  Signup on Sub list on 9/1 time slot to be added to the sub email list.

8/20 - Spirit store opens and will remain open until 9/8.  


8/29 - Meet the Teacher - Visit the PTO information table, pick up t-shirts (ordered prior to August 5th) and check out the uniform exchange.


9/4 & 9/5 - Yahoo Boo-hoo coffee and bagels in the ISLA parking lot after drop-off
