My name is Antonia García, I'm 23 years old and I'm from Chicureo, a small town outside Santiago, Chile. I live with my parents, my three siblings and my dog, Chela. I am the oldest of my siblings, I have a 21 year old sister, an 18 year old brother and the youngest, who is 14 years old. My family is a fundamental part of my life, and we really enjoy spending time together and sharing. I am currently in my last semester of my Basic Pedagogy degree at the Universidad de Los Andes, where I am doing my professional practice. I consider myself a very creative, motivated and cheerful person. I am always looking for ways to express my creativity, whether it is through reading, making crafts, preparing recipes or enjoying a good series or movie. I am especially excited about the opportunity to work on ISLA. This project represents an invaluable opportunity for me to learn new skills and approaches to education, and I am excited to get to know Minneapolis, a city that offers a very different culture and experience from what I am used to. I am sure that this experience will not only enrich my professional career, but will also allow me to take away significant learning that I will be able to share and apply upon my return to Chile.
